SPECIAL EVENT CARDS - CREATED BY THE "NOOK AND GRANNIES"

Sometimes we refer to ourselves as the "Nook and Grannies". A lovely teen who came to the Nook with her Mom came up with that reference!  (Hmmmm why am I suddenly hungry for a Thomas English muffin?!?

I desire for the Nook to touch a lot of lives. I encourage the ladies to continually invite new ladies to the Nook. I don't want us to be "ingrown" but to reach out to others.

Another way that we reach out to others is to send cards for special events or needs.

The birthday cards below were created by ladies in the Nook and sent to Jacob Abedini when his father, Pastor Saeed Abedini, was in prison in Iran for over 3 years. They were sent to Jacob to cheer him up on his 7th birthday.

Perhaps you heard about a young girl in Schenectady, NY who lost her family
in a home fire. Her one wish was to receive lots of Christmas cards.  The ladies in the Nook
created the following cards and sent them to her.

The card above and below is the same card (exterior and interior)
and it was sent with the other cards we created so that the
little girl could see what we looked like!

This is a close up of the card. (above)

These are the cards we sent!

LASTING HEARTS

Lasting Hearts is here to help comfort mothers who have lost
a piece of their heart.  Losing a child, whether in pregnancy
or older, can be one of the hardest pains a parent can endure.
Cards are sent to accompany a book that is given to the parent(s).
See more at the link below.

This link tells about the campaign:

We also created these cards. Check the link below to learn more about them.

NOOK CARDS FEATURED ONLINE!

Check this out! The ladies that come to my Nook sent cards into Kristina Werner, a crafter, that does YouTube tutorials and features a monthly Mail Call event.  Kristina shows the cards she receives in the Mail Call video. Each month Kristina has a different theme for the month.

In February, I had the ladies that come to the Nook created cards that we sent in together to Kristina. The theme for March was "animal cards". She featured our cards on the video. We are featured beginning at 18:45 minutes of the video and at the end section.  The cards are posted below on this blog entry, so you will recognize them in the video! (I created the house card and the other cards are in frame 1,2,3,4, and 6 when the music begins at the ed of the video.)

While in Alaska visiting my son and family and meeting my 3rd granddaughter for the first time, I had the opportunity to craft with my 9 and 3.5 year old granddaughters.

I shared with them about the cards above being sent to Kristina and that the theme for this month I was visiting them was heart cards.  I just happen to come prepared with a lot of heart die cuts and heart dry embossed card bases.  Below are what we sent to Kristina for the June Mail Call that she will post in July!
